  • Freezer high temperature

Applies to

  • Freezers
  • Refrigerators with Freezers

Solution

Is this a newly installed unit?

  • Make sure the unit has been installed correctly, please refer to your installation guide and use and care manual for more information.
  • Make sure the unit is plugged into a dedicated outlet. It should be 115-volt or 120-volt, individual, properly grounded branch circuit with a 3-prong grounding type receptacle, protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker or time-delay fuse.
  • Note: The unit will need 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize

Has there been a power outage recently?

  • Locate circuit breaker box within home and flip the breaker off that corresponds to the refrigerator.
  • Note: The unit will need 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize

Does the unit have power?

  • To verify the unit has power, check for any indicator lights on the control panel or interior lights.
  • Is the unit plugged into a GFI outlet? Make sure the outlet has not been tripped or needs to be reset.
  • Note: The unit will need 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize.

Where is the unit located?

  • We do not recommend installing the unit where the temperature will drop below 55°F.

Which setting are being used?

  • The factory suggested temperature settings for the refrigerator is 37°F and the freezer is 0°F. Acceptable operating temperatures for the refrigerator is 33°F (0.56°C) to 47°F (8.33°C) and the freezer is -6 °F (-21°C) to 6°F (-14°C).

Has the door been left open for an extended amount time?

  • Make sure there is nothing blocking the door and it is closing properly.

Is the door sealing properly?

  • A non-sealing door will cause an unstable temperature.
  • Check the seal with a dollar bill by opening your refrigerator door and then closing it on the bill. Give it a little tug to see how easily it comes out. You should feel a bit of resistance. If the bill slides right out with no resistance or drops to the floor, the seal is not as strong as it should be.
  • Use warm soapy water to clean the door gasket.

Is the unit making any noise?

  • Compressor hum, fans blowing, and refrigerant gurgling; are all signs the unit is attempting to cool.
  • If unit has been running for 24 hours and still no cool, please schedule service.

Is there any frost buildup?

  • Over frosting can cause the door to not shut correctly or decrease airflow.

Does the freezer have too much food stored inside the unit?

  • Remove a few items to allow proper air flow.
  • Food items should not be blocking air flow vents and allow space around items for good air circulation.
